All three parties are back on the election trail after stepping back from the campaign yesterday.
The NDP, Liberals and PC’s opted to attend ceremonies reflecting on National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.
Liberal John Hogan promises that there will be no cuts to health care as long as he is premier. There may be savings found in the system – but no cuts.
“Dr. Parfrey has mentioned the issue of unnecessary testing being done so if we find savings there, the money will stay with NLHA or the Department of Health and Community Services,” says Hogan.
PC Tony Wakeham has promised to restore 24/7 snowclearing to some roads, but he’s unsure of which ones will make the expanded list. He’s concerned about people trying to get to or from an airport or a hospital on unplowed roads “or driving at night because of a medical emergency. I know of one situation where an emergency room doctor trying to report for a shift could not get through because the road was not plowed.”
Earlier this week, NDP Leader Jim Dinn announced new housing supports in St. John’s.
All three of the party leaders are expected to make more announcements today.
