A teenager has been charged with aggravated assault following an incident in Happy Valley-Goose Bay yesterday.

RCMP were first called just after 6:30 p.m. following reports of an assault, and that a person was lying in the middle of Cartwright Road in need of immediate medical attention.

The victim was sent to the hospital with serious, potentially life-threatening injuries. They have since been discharged from hospital.

A 17-year-old, who was arrested, appeared in court today on charges of aggravated assault, failing to comply with a release order, and theft under $5,000.

Anyone with information, including dashcam or security footage, is asked to contact the RCMP.
