Local musicians are coming together once again to Stand on Guard, this time to help people affected by devastating wildfires in the province this summer.
Chris Andrews, who is on the We Stand of Guard Once More Committee says for the third time, a major fundraising concert is being held with the proceeds to assist those who have been displaced and lost everything.
More than $2 million dollars was raised as the result of a We Stand on Guard Again concert to help the people on the southwest coast after Hurricane Fiona struck the region in 2022.
The first concert was held to assist those affected by Hurricane Igor in 2010.
The Fables and Buddy Wasisname and the Other Fellers are among the acts that will perform at this year’s event set for November 10th at the JAG Soundhouse.
Andrews says musicians and performers they approached were quick to respond.
He believes it speaks volumes about “who we are as people, and when in need, this province is known internationally for coming together.”
The concert will also be broadcast live on VOCM, the Big Land FM Radio Network and on New Country.
Tickets go on sale this Monday at noon.
