Hockey NL has decided not to proceed with a AAA female league this season, but it is confident it will be able to go in that direction.

For now, the organization is going to focus on building a strong, competitive, and balanced U-18 female AA program this season across the province.

HNL says because of delays and uncertainties that would arise from trying to restructure in mid-season, the U-18 Female AAA Eastern Icebreakers will continue as their sole AAA team for the 2025-26 hockey season.

Craig Tulk, the executive director, says they are gathering data and seeking input to plan for the return of a revitalized U-18 AAA female league next year.
