Tickets have sold out for an event to help people whose lives were turned upside down by wildfires this past summer.
Local musicians are coming together once again to Stand on Guard. Tickets for the event went on sale at noon, and sold out in a matter of minutes.
Committee member Chris Andrews says it will be the third time that the We Stand on Guard Once More committee has staged a major fundraiser to help people who have suffered dearly.
More than $2 million dollars was raised as the result of a We Stand on Guard Again concert to help the people on the southwest coast after Hurricane Fiona in 2022. The first concert was held to assist those affected by Hurricane Igor in 2010.
The Masterless Men, Ennis Sisters, and Buddy Wasisname and the Other Fellers are among the acts that will perform at this year’s event, set for November 10 at the JAG Soundhouse.
Andrews says musicians and performers they approached were quick to respond.
He invites people who couldn’t purchase a ticket to get involved in the effort by making a donation.
The concert will also be broadcast live on the VOCM/Big Land FM Radio Network and on New Country.
