The former member who resigned from the oversight panel on the MOU between Quebec and Newfoundland and Labrador on hydro development in Labrador says the agreement should never have become an election issue.
Premier John Hogan chose it as the main issue in the campaign while the other two leaders did not see it that way.
Michael Wilson, who resigned almost six months ago, has been calling for an independent review of the tentative deal between the two provinces.
He says a lot of people don’t realize that there are two separate and distinct pricing structures. One of those structures, Wilson told VOCM Open Line with Paddy Daly, gives Hydro Quebec all of the power from the new developments at cost.
“This should be an issue that’s addressed by the people of the province after they have a clear understanding of it but reality is that nobody understands what they’re being asked to vote on – and that’s a travesty,” he says.
Hydro’s Board of Directors responded to some of the issues raised by the so-called Group of Nine yesterday.
