A couple from Mount Pearl had the opportunity of a lifetime when they were picked as the grand prize winners of Rogers’ Beyond the Seat contest for Rogers customers.
Lori Squibb and Francis Roche, who are life-long Blue Jays fans, won roundtrip airfare to Toronto, two tickets to see a game and accommodations at the Rogers Centre Marriott to take in the first game of the East Division championship series.
Squibb says they were treated like royalty. She calls it a dream come true, and says the atmosphere at the Rogers Centre was electric.
“And it’s not just the stadium,” says Squibb. “You feel it over the whole city. We got there Friday morning, so we had a couple of days, and everywhere you go, (there are) Go Blue Jays signs in the window, everyone is wearing Blue Jays shirts or jerseys, you can feel it everywhere.”
Squibb believes the Jays will take the World Series.
“It’s one thing about this team this year; they really do play as a team, you know, it’s not all riding on one player. Everybody does their part, and I think they can go all the way,” says Squibb. “This is their year. If there’s any year, this is it. I mean, they put out the Yankees, come on, they can beat anybody.”
