It was a Thanksgiving weekend to remember for the family of a 65-year-old man reported missing last week while hunting near Burgeo.
Eugene Bungay was last seen early Wednesday morning, prompting a massive search.
Burgeo Search and Rescue were called out, battling wind, rain and fog, searching well into the wee hours, to no avail.
They were then joined by volunteers with Bonne Bay Search and Rescue, the Bay of Islands Volunteer Search and Rescue, Deer Lake Regional Search and Rescue, Barachois SAR, and Stephenville Search and Rescue.
The missing man was found on Saturday afternoon and taken to hospital after four full days in the wilderness.
The NL Search and Rescue Association is offering its thanks to RCMP, JRCC, Canadian Helicopters, Burgeo paramedics and the people of Burgeo for their support, food and “anything else” that was needed.
