The FFAW is congratulating Premier-designate Tony Wakeham on his victory last night and says it won’t be long before the union holds the PC governments’ feet to the fire on election promises made during the campaign.
Secretary-Treasurer Jamie Baker told VOCM Open Line with Paddy Daly they’ll be seeking a meeting with the new government in the near future to address a number of areas of concern.
Baker says Wakeham committed to addressing issues within the Labour Relations Board and moving the adjudication process along.
He says The PCs also committed to allocating dedicated arbitration weeks so that any grievances in the system – some of which stretch into years – are dealt with.
Baker says the Tories have also committed to greater consultation with stakeholders on policy changes.
“When we start talking about lockouts and these sorts of things, when these concerns are raised and they are substantial, there should be immediate investigation, and that is something Mr. Wakeham has committed to” says Baker. “And of course, we’ve also asked for and received a commitment to establish mandatory audited provincial sales pricing reporting.”
