The Canadian Federation of Independent Business has released its priorities for the new Tory government ahead of the opening of the House of Assembly.
The federation released its plans just after PC Leader Tony Wakeham received a majority government, gaining the popular vote in 21 districts.
CFIB says it wants the government to lower the small business tax rate to one per cent, eliminate the 15 per cent sales tax on insurance, and allow municipalities to compensate small businesses affected by construction and other policy changes.
CFIB Spokesperson for Newfoundland and Labrador, Jonathan Galgay, says small businesses need a tax break and says the PC’s need to focus on reducing red tape.
