Five people were taken to hospital as the result of a seven vehicle pile up on the Outer Ring Road at the height of this morning’s commute.
The collision occurred around 8:00 this morning in the eastbound lanes between Thorburn Road and the Team Gushue Highway exits.
The injuries suffered are not believed to be life-threatening.
The highway has since re-opened however traffic backlogs persisted throughout the metro region.
Meanwhile, a collision between a car and a dump truck near Bay Bulls Big Pond late yesterday afternoon sent the driver of the car to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The collision forced the closure of the highway for an extended period. The driver of the dump truck was not injured.
