A trailblazing municipal politician has just published her memoir at the age of 91.
Priscilla Boutcher served more than two decades on the Corner Brook city council as mayor, deputy mayor and councilor. She was Corner Brook’s first female mayor.
Boutcher lost her son David in the Ocean Ranger disaster in 1982.
She says she wrote her memoir primarily as an account of her life for her family, but it turned into something much bigger.
“I came from a family of 10,” says Boutcher. “I was in the middle and we had plenty to eat and drink, but we had a lot of heartaches too, and I relived all that over in my married life. We had lots of fun, good family and I guess today, it’s all memories. I’m glad I put it in this book.”
“I Laughed, and I Cried” can be ordered through a special Facebook page set up to promote the book.
