If you fancy a family game night, but don’t have a board game at hand, fear not, your local library’s got you covered.
People may not know that many public libraries actually have a collection of board games available to borrow.
Emma Craig with the A.C. Hunter Library in St. John’s says it’s part of an expansion of services provided by public libraries that go well beyond books.
“So the board game collection is something that’s built over quite a few years,” says Craig. “It’s not unique to St. John’s. We have a collection throughout Newfoundland and Labrador. The idea that libraries can lend out other types of items such as board games, movies, even video games…it just seemed natural to…become a library of things rather than just a library of books.”
