RCMP are investigating a break in and the theft of copper from a live power substation in Lethbridge, Bonavista Bay.
The culprit or culprits broke into the substation around 3:00 this morning.
The damage knocked power out to approximately 1,800 customers in Morley’s Siding, Lethbridge, Portland, Winterbrook, Bloomfield, Bunyan’s Cove, Musgrave Town, Canning’s Cove and Brooklyn.
RCMP say tampering with high-voltage electrical systems is extremely dangerous, and any contact with equipment in power substations can result in serious injury or death.
