The St. John’s Regional Fire Department is making consumers aware of a recent recall involving a hot water heater.
The Vesta Tankless Hot Water Heater has been recalled by Health Canada and in the United States due to the potential for carbon monoxide poisoning.
The exhaust duct can crack, allowing gases to escape inside the home, and potentially exposing people in the home to carbon monoxide poisoning which can be fatal.
Up until October 10th, Vesta had received then reports of cracked exhaust ducts in Canada, with 33 similar reports in the U.S.
Anyone with one of the affected units is asked to stop using it immediately and to contact the company to have a certified technician install a free repair.
