The MHA for Ferryland says he’s doing what he can to ensure that storm damage caused to the breakwater in Trepassey is addressed.
The area has been battered by a number of major storms the past few years, and the most recent repairs failed to keep Mother Nature at bay.
Fisheries Minister Loyola O’Driscoll says he’s met with the local town council and with the minister of transportation and infrastructure to see what can be done in the short term.
He believes the breakwater in Trepassey is a vital piece of infrastructure, and with a high probability of more powerful strong storms in future, he says it needs to be done right.
“When they put it there the previous time, after Hurricane Larry I think it was…they did a report and said it was a failed structure. I think it could work, if they do the right work there…if they repair the wall and put in armour stone.”
