Canada is facing a labour shortage, and the Canadian Council on Rehabilitation and Work believes the answer may lie with persons with disabilities.
Today is the International Day of Persons with Disabilities.
The director of digital operations, Jeffrey Normore, says there are an estimated 700,000 skilled trades workers expected to retire by 2028, and there are 750,000 people who, if they were to find the right workplace accommodations, would be able to work.
When talking about some of the major projects Canada wants to take on, he says an important aspect of that is making those workplaces, and funding and training streams, accessible.
