Friends of a woman in St. John’s whose daughter was taken by her estranged husband and is now in Egypt are helping raise money so that she can initiate legal proceedings in the Middle East country to have her returned to Canada.
Even though Bouchra Marbouhi was granted an emergency temporary order by a judge last May requiring both parents to keep their daughter in St. John’s, the girl’s father took her out of the country.
The RNC have issued a warrant for Ahmed Elgammal on charges of abduction.
Kathy Porter, one of the organizers of the GoFundMe page, says money is needed to pay legal and other fees. They’re aiming for about $12,000.
She told the Tim Powers Show on VOCM that the past few months have been sheer agony for Bouchra.
“She hasn’t been able to speak to Tamara or see a current picture of Tamara,” says Porter. “She has had to deal with a lot of things and I couldn’t imagine myself being able to do that.”
