A new report on housing shows that Newfoundland and Labrador is in the middle of the pack overall but leads in one category.
The assessment by the University of Ottawa’s Missing Middle Initiative graded each of the provinces across 30 indicators related to housing.
Oddly, the largest provinces scored the lowest while those in Atlantic Canada tend to “get the basics right” according to the report.
Ontario finished last with a D, behind British Columbia (C-minus) and Quebec (C-plus.)
Newfoundland and Labrador, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and Nova Scotia were all graded in the B-plus to B-minus range.
NL scored the best ranking for affordability and positive societal outcomes, including stronger formation trends.
