A three-vehicle crash on the Trans Canada Highway near Thorburn Lake Friday afternoon has resulted in serious and life-altering injuries to two people.
Clarenville RCMP are urging all witnesses to contact them, including those who have pictures or video of any of the vehicles involved prior to, during, or after the crash.
It was just after 2:30 when a commercial semi-tractor trailer unit, loaded with lumber, left the roadway after colliding with two passenger vehicles.
Before that, Glovertown RCMP had received reports of a black commercial transport truck hauling a load of logs being driven in an erratic and dangerous manner eastbound from Gambo. Clarenville RCMP had been looking for it when the crash occurred.
One of the passenger vehicles came to rest partially submerged in a pond. Its occupants – a man and a woman – were rushed to the local hospital but one of them has since been transferred to a larger hospital.
Police are interested in any type of electronic imagery between 1:30 and 2:30 Friday.
