NL Broadcast Icon John Murphy Passes Away, Leaving Lasting Legacy
A man with one of the most distinctive voices in broadcasting and who called the shots at the VOCM Radio Network for more than 25 years, passed away.
John Murphy, who served as the general manager at VOCM starting in the 1970’s through to 2010, began his career at CKCM in Grand Falls in 1963, a time long before social media, computers and automation. Quick witted, and of eloquent tongue, “Murph” as he was known to many in the industry, loved radio and all the things it encompassed.
