Those dreaming of a white Christmas are in luck.
Environment Canada has a winter storm watch for the eastern portion of the island right out to central on Christmas Day.
Snowfall amounts between 15 to 25 cm are expected with gusts as strong as 110 km/h.
Meteorologist Justin Boudreau says the snow will start early Christmas morning and continue through the day.
He says there is still some uncertainty in terms of snowfall amounts at this time. Blowing snow is expected to be an issue while areas along the coast are more likely to see the snow change to rain for a brief period.
Special weather statements are also out for the south coast and Northern Peninsula.
The system is expected to move out on Boxing Day, however blowing snow may still be an issue as it will remain blustery.
