Saying it’s focused on affordability, the Town of Grand Falls-Windsor is lowering the property tax rate next year.
The 2026 budget, worth $25.4-million, is about $1.2-million more than the 2025 financial plan.
Councillor Amy Coady says through internal efficiencies and careful planning, council has developed a budget that balances cost containment with continued investment.
The residential mil rate decreases to 9.15 from 9.5 and the Idle Land Tax to 5 mils from 15.
Grand Falls-Windsor has re-established a special tax category of 4 mils for personal care homes, and seniors who pay their taxes by March 31st will get a discount.
