Comedian Mark Critch has taken aim at what has been a tumultuous year for relations with the United States in his latest book Sorry, Not Sorry.
The book is comprised of 13 funny essays that explore the year that has been in terms of Canada-U.S. relations.
He says he would get frustrated hearing President Donald Trump talk about Canada being the “51st state” and “Governor Carney,” so he wanted to write a book that celebrates the country and pushes back against that narrative.
Critch says one story is a “love letter” from Trump to Canada trying to “seduce” the country into coming back, another features Santa Claus crossing the border into the USA and being taken down by ICE Agents, and there’s also one that talks about how Newfoundland and Labrador was taken in by Canada and “lost its sovereignty” – with the message being “it can happen to you too, Canada.”
