Premier Tony Wakeham says his government will look at expanding the number of days in which the House of Assembly sits.
While on opposition, Tony Wakeham criticized the Liberals for short House sittings and for cutting some of them short.
The fall sitting of the legislature this year was outright cancelled because of the change in power. Wakeham also lays blame on the Liberals for that.
“Unfortunately, in this past fall after the election, the Liberals decided to go to court instead of coming to the House. They wanted to have those appeals done so we did that, we went through that process and we kind of ran out of calendar space.”
That said, Wakeham does say his government will be taking advantage of all days on the parliamentary calendar.
“Going forward in the new year, when we open the House we will stay open. And we will stay open for the full time the parliamentary calendar says we need to stay open for. And we’re looking at whether we need to expand that calendar.”
