Beware the Nalujuk.
Tonight is Nalujuk night in Nain and other communities in Nunatsiavut on the north coast of Labrador.
Nalujuk are strangers who come into the community over the sea ice on January 6th to chase and frighten the bad, and reward the good.
The annual practice draws from a combination of Inuit and ancient European traditions surrounding the end of the Christmas period.
Director Jennie Williams featured the annual tradition in an award-winning NFB film.
