It looks as though we will get some detail tomorrow regarding the revitalization of a major industry on the west coast.
Kruger will hold a news conference tomorrow to discuss the $700 million revitalization initiative that was proposed last year.
The project will see the current paper mill modernized, adding a new pulp storage facility, the upgrade of site infrastructure and the implementation of chip handling and receiving equipment.
Last week, NL Hydro extended its power purchase agreement with Corner Brook Public and Paper for another year to June 2027.
The extension will allow the provincial government to review and consider Kruger’s proposed plan.
The mill employs about 300 people but also buys pulp from smaller commercial suppliers.
