Some customers of Newfoundland Power are in for a rude awakening when they see their bills this month.
A similar story unfolded this time last year when many complained of charges which seemed extraordinarily high.
The utility has assured in the past that, while the meters are not physically checked, their remote digital system is accurate.
Brendan Quinlan of Legend Tours in downtown St. John’s told VOCM Open Line with Paddy Daly that his bill doubled in one month.
“It jumped from $247 to $493. I just got off the phone to Newfoundland Power and I don’t know how they can justify all this. How could it go up by that much in 30 days?” Quinlan wanted to know.
