Memorial University is streamlining its executive team – reducing the number of vice-presidents from seven to three, and creating a smaller, more focused executive team.
That team now includes provost and vice-president (academic), vice-president (finance and administration) and vice-president (research and innovation).
It also includes three deputy provost positions – one for the Grenfell and Labrador Campuses, Marine Institute and executive director for professional and continuing education, and the deputy provost and dean of graduate studies.
The role of the recently created role of vice-president (Indigenous) is becoming special advisor to the president on Indigenous affairs.
The role of vice-president advancement and external relations has been eliminated.

President Janet Morrison and Board Chair Justin Ladha speak with media about the changes.
The departments of Development and Alumni Engagement as well as Marketing and Communications will report to the president, while Signal Hill Campus Operations/ Conference and Events Services, the Johnson GEO Centre, Botanical Garden and Newfoundland Quarterly will report to the vice-president (finance and administration).
The role of vice-provost (Labrador Campus) which is currently vacant, has also been eliminated.
All those directly affected have been notified.
