The town of Paradise will be hosting para hockey teams from around the world for the Hockey Canada Para Hockey Cup this fall.
The provincial government is providing $30,000 to help host the event.
Members of Team Canada, including athletes Liam Hickey and Gavin Baggs, joined provincial and municipal officials for the announcement today at the Paradise Double Ice Complex.
Hickey says para hockey has grown a lot since the first tournament was held in the province in 2019.
“The Para Hockey Cup that we’ve just got back here in 2026 is kind of a testament to that (growth). We hosted that in 2019 and Gavin Baggs, who was a flag bearer at the time, is now playing with me on the national team”
“I think that really shows what can happen when you kind of bring events like this to the province, and it’s another exciting opportunity to do that in 2026.”
The event will be held November 29th through to December 5th. The tournament schedule and ticket sales will be announced in the coming months.
