All six units are back up and running at NL Hydro’s Bay d’Espoir plant meaning a power warning in place over the weekend has been lifted.
Officials were warning of the possibility of rolling blackouts and urging customers to conserve power over the weekend due to the build up of frazil ice which compromised several units and significantly reduced capacity.
Divers worked tirelessly to clear all the ice, removing sheets are large as mattresses according to Hydro officials.
A power watch remains in place and customers are asked to be mindful of their usage, especially during peak hours – 7 a.m. – 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. – 8 p.m.
