A woman who was once one of the most powerful labour leaders in the province is dismayed that Memorial University would even be allowed to do away with the Johnson Geo Centre.
Carol Furlong, who was President of NAPE, says there are better ways for the university to address what she calls its mismanagement over the years. She describes the Geo Centre, which is built into Signal Hill, as a snapshot in time but once it’s gone, we’ll never get it back.
“Every day, there’s a school bus parked outside that building. It’s a major geological and scientific museum,” says Furlong.
She described the number of schools that availed of the site through the year.
