Longtime Toronto Blue Jays broadcaster Buck Martinez is calling it a career.
He shared the news this morning saying he would be stepping away from the Sportsnet broadcasting booth.
Martinez first came to Toronto as a player in 1981 when he was traded to the Blue Jays. He spent six seasons behind the plate for the Jays before retiring in 1986.
He then went on to pursue a career in broadcasting – a career path which was paused when he served as Blue Jays manager in 2001-2002.
He then returned to the microphone, where his voice became synonymous with the Toronto Blue Jays.
The final call of his career was game 7 of the 2025 World Series.
Martinez has suffered health issues in recent years and had taken leave from Sportsnet in the past as he battled cancer.
