A man who previously served as president of the FFAW and executive director of the Newfoundland and Labrador Aquaculture Industry Association has been appointed as the provincial government’s new Deputy Minister of Fisheries and Aquaculture.
Keith Sullivan was appointed to the role to “highlight the importance” that government is “placing on strengthening the province’s fishing and aquaculture industries” according to a release issued today.
Sullivan was with the FFAW for 18 years – eight of which were as President of the union. He stepped down in 2023.
He was appointed as the executive director of the NAIA last year.
Sullivan was an outspoken critic of plans to establish a marine conservation area on the province’s south coast. An MOU on the feasibility of a proposed marine park in the area was terminated by the provincial government last week.
