The Minister of Education is among those offering his support to the people of Tumbler Ridge, B.C. in the wake of this week’s mass shooting.
Paul Dinn says wrapping one’s head around what played out this week is difficult, and illustrates how schools and school communities are prone to larger societal issues.
“It’s no different here….I’ve had at least, maybe four meetings now…with the NLTA,” says Dinn.
“President Lambe’s been fantastic. We’ve talked about issues, (like) recruiting and retaining teachers, improving working conditions, reducing class sizes and addressing violence. And also increasing mental health and classroom supports.”
This is Education Week in Newfoundland and Labrador.
