The United States won gold in the women’s hockey final against Canada, but instead of the route seen in the round-robin, gold was decided in an overtime victory for the U.S.
Canada was leading 1-0 throughout the game until the U.S. tied it up in the third with a scoring goal from U.S. captain Hilary Knight, sending the game into overtime. American Megan Keller scored the game-winner.
Canadian Captain Marie-Philip Poulin says she was proud of Canada’s effort but “sadly, we came up short.”
