The town of Sunnyside has suspended two councilors for allegedly breaching their code of conduct.

Mayor Wanda Simmonds says serious complaints were levied against the two councilors by staff, including two for workplace harassment and bullying, and one for sexual harassment.

On Monday night a special public meeting was held where formal motions were brought forward to accept the complaints.

She says there were also motions to suspend the councilors for three months, and to apply to the supreme court to have their seats vacated.

Simmonds says the councilors can appeal the decision, but that would have to go through the supreme court at their own cost.
