One of two murder cases from the Rabbittown area of St. John’s is moving to the next stage while the other awaits full disclosure of evidence against the three men charged.
The unrelated killings occurred just a few blocks away from each other late last year in the centre-city neigbourhood.
RNC responded to a home on Suvla Street in the early afternoon on Halloween, and found the victim, 28-year-old Cameron Power-Manning inside, with the manner of death yet to be disclosed.
A week later, 27-year-old Jordan Woods, now in custody in Clarenville, was charged with second-degree murder.
In provincial court this morning the preliminary inquiry was set for several days in August, with a hearing to smooth out pre-trial issues set for late June.
Trio charged in Empire Avenue murder also appear in court
Meanwhile, three men charged with first-degree murder also appeared today, with court told two of them are still awaiting confirmation of legal aid representation.
Peter Campbell, Darryl Little and Doug Yetman are accused of the planned killing of a 41-year-old man on December 21st in a house next to Shoppers Drug Mart on Empire Avenue.
The trio remain in custody at HMP, pending their next court date on March 12fth, as lawyers work to untangle complications that arise with three suspects charged with the most serious offence in the Criminal Code.
