The PC Government’s Speech from the Throne earlier this week was underscored with the party slogan “For All of Us,” but the NL Teachers’ Association says its members feel left out.
The speech, which outlines government’s priorities and direction, was delivered on Monday.
NLTA President Dale Lambe says they were extremely disappointed after hearing government’s outline.
Lambe was hoping to hear commitments to issues around class size and composition, working conditions, and violence in schools. He says government has had “plenty of opportunities to date to speak to their commitment to education, and they’re just not doing it.”
Lambe says educators feel “insulted” by what he calls a “virtual silence” from government on education.
He believes it shows that government doesn’t have a plan for education and they are not willing to address the issues raised.
