DNA analysis has resulted in the arrest of a man in connection with a break-in at a cell tower site in Summerville, Bonavista Bay last November.
RCMP were called on November 14th by a property management company about a hit and run involving an ATV. The worker, who was responding to a fuel leak alarm at the site, reported that their vehicle was struck by an ATV with two men aboard.
The ATV then crashed into a ditch and the driver and passenger ran from the scene.
RCMP say extensive damage was caused at the site and a large quantity of diesel fuel taken, which was later recovered from a makeshift ATV trailer at the scene.
Police say forensic analysis conducted on items seized from the site linked the DNA of 42-year-old Jason Little of Upper Amherst Cove to the break-in.
He was arrested Wednesday and charged with break and enter, two counts of damage to property over $5,000, theft under $5,000, failing to remain at the scene of an accident and failing to comply with a release order.
He’s been released on conditions and is scheduled to return to court in April.
