The long-time Sergeant at Arms in the House of Assembly is calling it a career.
Retired RNC Officer Bob Escott is retiring after serving as the Sergeant at Arms since October 18th, 2021.
Bernard Davis paid tribute to Escott in the House of Assembly yesterday.
Davis says Escott has had many years of public service, having started with the Royal Canadian Navy in 1977, followed by years with the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary. He says he’s also spent years mentoring and supporting veterans and young cadets, and has long been associated with the CLB Band.
NDP Leader Jim Dinn has known Escott for years, having gone to school with him before working alongside him professionally.
Dinn says since Bob became the head of security at the House of Assembly, they all knew they were in good hands.
Premier Tony Wakeham joined with others, gently ribbing Escott’s good nature and sense of humour.
“I can attest to the sense of humour he has,” Wakeham joked, “anyone who cheers for the Toronto Maple Leafs certainly needs a sense of humour.”
