Tomorrow marks the 25th anniversary of an unthinkable tragedy that claimed the lives of three teenage boys off Pouch Cove.
Cousins Jesse Elliott and Adam Wall drowned while attempting to rescue their friend, A. J. Sullivan, along the harbour shoreline jammed with pack ice.
A monument was erected nearby.
Sarah Elliot, Jesse’s sister, says her brother was always there to help people. So in that respect, it is not surprising that he would be chosen to leave this world in an untimely manner.
Every March 8 is her “champagne day” so tomorrow will be especially significant with a public memorial event.
It’s a day that she would normally spend by herself reflecting on all the good that all three boys brought to the world. She says it will be special to be together.
The event, which is open to the public, takes place from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. tomorrow at All Saints Hall with a moment of reflection at 5:00, and fireworks at 8:00.
