Canadian rock singer Sass Jordan has died.

She had a long history with Newfoundland and Labrador, including a memorable appearance at Quidi Vidi Park in St. John’s in 1989 when she opened for Rod Steward at what remains one of the largest concerts ever held in the province.

She returned to St. John’s several times since then including in 1993 for a sold-out show at the TSC, in 2017 for a performance at Club One and, most recently, for performances as part of the Iceberg Alley Performance Tent in 2022.

Known for hits including “High Road Easy”, “Make You a Believer” and “Tell Somebody,” Jordan was one of Canada’s most recognizable rock voices and a Juno Award winner.

Sass Jordan was 63.
