The weather may not be the best, but local residents are being invited to take part in what’s called a “global movement of reflection.”
Today is World Labyrinth Day, a worldwide event focused on “peace and mindful connection.”
Participants in communities around the world will walk together at 1:00 p.m. local time, creating what organizers say will be “a wave of peace” across time zones.
The Anglican Cathedral of Saint John the Baptist in St. John’s has its own labyrinth, a trail for people to follow in reflection.
Laura Cowan, who is part of the local Labyrinth Committee, says the Cathedral is part of the Legacy Labyrinth Project, and has the 9th legacy labyrinth.
She says there are labyrinths all over the world – in France, Argentina, the U.S. and in Saskatchewan. She says World Labyrinth Day takes place on the first Saturday in May, with thousands participating in a moving meditation for peace and a celebration of the labyrinth experience.
