A fire at Robin Hood Bay last evening was quickly contained.
The city of St. John’s says while the cause of the fire has not yet been confirmed, rechargeable batteries are a known fire risk at landfill sites.
The city is reminding residents not to place batteries in garbage or recycling. Instead, batteries and other household hazardous waste should be dropped off at the Household Hazardous Waste Depot at Robin Hood Bay or another approved drop-off location.
