The CEO of the Port of Argentia recently met with officials from the New England states focused on renewable energy – and wind power in particular.
The port is already serving as a storage area for monopiles bound for the U.S. awaiting a change in American energy policy that will lift a freeze on offshore wind development imposed by President Donald Trump.
Scott Penney says the port is currently engaged in a number of “major files’ and whether or not those policies will change in the foreseeable future remains to be seen.
That said, the port is happy to play a role, if and when possible.
“My message to them was, ‘if we’re available, we’d love to be a part of it. It’s a great project for us, great exposure, and we’d love to be involved if the opportunity presents itself down the road.'”
