One of the many people who were displaced by last year’s wildfire on the Conception Bay North Shore says the loss goes well beyond the destruction of their home.
Jo Hogan of Kingston lost her house to the flames after being evacuated early last August.
It’s not just the loss of their home that Hogan finds hard.
She used to have her daughter and grandchildren living nearby, but they moved to Witless Bay during the evacuations and have been staying there ever since.
Hogan gets emotional talking about how their lives have changed, calling it “devastating” and “heartbreaking.” She says the family is “resilient” and they will be on “as best (they) can.”
Her new home is now under construction on the site of the old house.
