The U-Turn Addiction Recovery Drop-In Centre in Carbonear is marking 15 years of helping those struggling with substance use.

The centre started as a grassroots volunteer effort around a kitchen table, and has now grown into a place that offers various supports and referrals.

Executive director Jeff Bourne says he would have never imagined what the organization would grow into.

Bourne says they hold an annual BBQ for both those they help and their supporters.

This year’s event is taking place on July 18th at their facility, and will be a celebration of the work they have done over the last 15 years and a look ahead to what’s next.

He says they have some “great ideas,” and at the event they will be making an announcement that will “make a big shift in the work (they) do.”
