The provincial government has made another donation to the Community Food Sharing Association thanks to the sale of American booze at the NLC.
Last December, government put American alcohol back on the shelves and pledged to donate up to $1-million to the association through the sale of the product. At the time, a $500,000 donation was made.
Now, government has donated another $250,000 to the organization, which will be used to help stock the shelves at local food banks.
The province says food bank usage has increased by 44 per cent since 2019.
The state says there are 60 food banks throughout the province that serve 15,000 people every month. Of those, 4,700 are children and 1,300 are seniors.
