Canada Post is no longer accepting parcels destined for a dozen European Union countries due to new customs requirements.
Packages addressed to Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Portugal and Spain will no longer be accepted due to new rules for low-value shipments.
The European Union has added a 3 Euro customs duty, plus import tax, on packages worth up to $240 Canadian.
The EU, which claims that many parcels are undervalued or falsely declared upon entry, argues that it gives non-EU-based importers an “unfair advantage.”
Parcel delivery will continue to the remaining fifteen EU countries.
